Restaurant.com just released a new sale on restaurant certificates that cuts an additional 80% OFF already reduced prices. For purchases made by Aug. 31, $25 certificates are just $2 nationwide.

The offer features certificates for 1200+ restaurants in New York, including popular spots throughout the city. Below are a small sample of restaurants included in this sale, but many other restaurants both locally and nationwide are available that fit every taste.

  • A. J. Maxwell’s Steakhouse
  • Ethos
  • Neo
  • Esca
  • Mars 2112
  • City Lobster & Steak
  • Salt
  • Bamboo 52

Other denominations are also available for some restaurants and certain restrictions apply like a minimum food purchase (usually $35 or more). These certificates are limited and can sell out quickly.

This offer expires August 31.

To purchase:

  1. Click here and enter a zip code or pick a state to find the local participating restaurants
  2. Select the gift certificate amount (if more than one choice is available), then add it to the cart
  3. Upon checking out, enter the discount code SAVE on the Shopping Cart page
  4. After completing the transaction print out the gift certificates to take to the restaurant

I just bought 7 $25 gift certificates for $3 a pop on Restaurant.com with the coupon code “palate” for 70% off. While the restaurants aren’t exactly Frank Bruni four star material, they are certainly the type of restaurants that I dine at on a fairly regular basis. The coupons come with some restrictions (valid days of week, minimum purchases), so read carefully before choosing.

Your 70% discount has been applied.

My selections:

  • Essex – LES – Close to home, and I eat/drink there all the time anyway. Good Sun-Tues with $35 minimum purchase at dinner. Too bad I can’t use it for lobster Wednesdays! But you can get a lot of $1 oysters with $35 on Mondays.
  • Les Sans Culottes – Midtown East – The tacky red decor and mediocre mains are hardly a deterrent considering the $25 3-course prix-fixe that includes a giant sausage rack, veggie basket, and rich dessert. Good Sun-Tues with minimum 2 prix-fixe dinners ($25 each). I’ve promised to take my John here to feast on sausages, so I picked up the coupon again.
  • Tonic East – Kips Bay – Wednesdays from 8-9 pm ladies drink free, so the girls and I sometimes go after work for nachos and free beer and cocktails. $35 minimum dinner purchase.
  • Slurp – LES – Close to home, and I never know when I’m going to be craving Vietnamese noodle soup. Haven’t tried it here yet, but for three bucks, I’m willing to try. $35 minimum dinner purchase.
  • Salt – SoHo – John took me here on a date and I loved it. Cozy, rustic, delicious. Good for dinner Sun-Thurs with $35 minimum food purchase.
  • Sachiko’s on Clinton – LES – Close to home, and I’ve been meaning to try it but the sushi is pretty pricey. Good Sun-Fri with $35 minimum food purchase, not valid with sushi bar or happy hour specials.
  • A.O.C. – West Village – Good for a casual date or garden dining, and I’ve always wanted to try it. Good Sun-Thurs for dinner with $35 minimum food purchase.
