Green Lantern vs. Sinestro

Image from wikia.comI watched Green Lantern: First Flight (2009) last night and while I found the movie entertaining enough, I have a bone to pick with the guys who wrote the script or the original comic book or whatever.

Quick recap from IMDB:

When pilot Hal Jordan accepts a mysterious, powerful ring from dying alien and Green Lantern patrolman Abin Sur, it transforms him into a Green Lantern – one of an elite force of heroes who patrol the universe to ensure peace and justice under the leadership of the Guardians of the Universe. Unsure of their newest recruit, the Guardians assign Hal to their most-honored Green Lantern Sinestro for training, unaware that Sinestro wants to overthrow the Guardians and create a new order he’ll control. It’s a battle of might and willpower as Hall must prove his worth by defeating Sinestro to save the Green Lantern Corps.

If your name is Sinestro and you look a lot like Satan, isn’t it a little too obvious that you’re probably a bad guy? A little more creativity here, guys.

haha! It’s comics, green lantern lore and DC were never known for being subtle in their villain names outside of the big boys (Batman, Superman). I mean, look at supes – the onyl villain who kills him is called APOCALYPSE…how obvious is that?

We agree! That whole final fight was a little strange, as was Hal Jordan’s sudden mastery of the power ring!

It was not Burnett’s finest writing achievement. Despite the stellar voice cast, it was disappointing.

Here is our take on it with lots of pics and a few bits if wit if you are interested:
